Lasix is a brand name of Furosemide.
Furosemide is a class of drugs called loop diuretics, it is otherwise known as water pill. Furosemide blocked the absorption of salts(sodium and chloride) and water in the kidney tubules, which increases the urine output.
It is used to excrete extra water of the body through kidneys. Furosemide.is mainly used in Heart failure, pulmonary edema, kidney failure, nephrotic syndrome, ascites, and in liver cirrhosis to excrete fluid accumulation(edema).
Furosemide also used in Hypertension to lower blood pressure. Lasix is called La-six because its actions last for 6 hours.
