Answer #1

The mergers and acquisitions deal to improve healthcare, the deals must meet criteria laid out by antitrust regulations. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state law enforcement officials closely scrutinize proposed merger and acquisition deals to ensure the combined entity will not create a monopoly in a particular market.

In 2016 , The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) blocked potential mergers between Advocate Health Care and North Shore University Health System.

The reason being the proposed merger of Advocate Health Care Network and NorthShore University HealthSystem would have created the largest hospital system in the North Shore area of Chicago. According to the complaint, the combined entity would operate a majority of the hospitals in the area and control more than 50 percent of the general acute care inpatient hospital services.
