The concepts of adaptation in the modeling and role-modeling is an interpersonal and interactive theory based on clinical practices to the nurses developed by Helen C Erickson, Evelyn M Tomlin and Mary Ann P. Swain -  to assess, plan and intervene the care on the basis of patient's needs.

Adaptation - way a person responds to stress related to health and growth.

The 5 goals of nursing interventions are a) trust development b) promote patient's orientation c) promote patient's control d) promote patient's strength and e) set mutual and health-directed goals.

The concepts of adaptation in the modeling and role-modeling includes

a) Meeting the basic human needs such as nutrition, oxygen, fluids an temperature regulation by assessing the family members.

b) understanding the family role of the patient by understanding the communication pattern within the family

c) the interactions of the family with others in the community to understand the relationship with others.

All these goals are needed to promote an adaptation in a patient's life during the both sectors of health and growth. The action plan begins with the assessment of the patient on the first level and then the family is included in the other 2 levels.

In the theory, the main role of  Modeling is to assess client's perspective on the other hand role-modeling understands the interaction with others in the society. In other words, it is the concept that shows how people are different each other in adaptation and self-care.
