Excessive hair growth in a female is the condition called hirsutism.hirsutism may be initial and possibly only sign of androgen excess.most common causes of hirsutism are POLYCYSTIC(PCOD) AND IDIOPATHIC HIRSUTISM. These are diagnosed by physical examination medical and family history and sometimes lab tests.

DIAGNOSIS:

If there is abnormal hair growth the physician will definitely ask to check the hormone levels. If the androgen level is higher than normal then the physician will do an ultrasound and CT scan to check for tumors.

Increased androgen level is the cause of excessive hair growth.

since the patient is having irregularities in the menstrual cycle and infertility it is clearly suggestive of polycystic ovarian disease.  

In women with high androgen level, there is a chance of endometrial cancer. In PCOS the ovary doesn't pop out egg irregularly which may lead to the uncontrollable growth of endometrium.the patient shold be properly educated on this.
