Have you seen any public health campaigns that are related to any of the objectives? Is there any evidence of the effectiveness of the public health campaigns on addressing an objective in your community?
I have seen many public health campaigns with national level and state level objectives. I know such a program conducted in our community by the public health department of the local civic body. They conducted a massive mass education program on hazards and dangerous side effects of smoking among our local population. The program included seminars, planned teaching programs, roleplay, drama, skits, and a documentary all with a central theme of dangers of smoking and benefits of quitting smoking or being a non-smoker. The team has conducted a pre-test prior to their campaign in which they assessed knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding smoking among the local population of our community. And, they did a post-test on the same after 2 months. Interestingly the study has found that the campaign has significantly improved people's knowledge of the dangers of smoking and there is a (pro health and no smoking ) shift in their attitude towards smoking. In terms of practice, many of the active smokers are now consulting health care providers to quit smoking.
