Historically women in general have been accorded low socio economic status in the society and for centuries could not work in many prestigious fields dominated by men, particularly white men. The black women, however bear the double burden of being black as well as female and have been debarred equal rights with respect to not just men but also white women. Due to years of not getting access to education and cultural capital, black women find it difficult to acquire skills to get formal white collar jobs. So, they are mostly employed in manual and low status jobs. Even the miniscule section who manage to get formal employment, are discriminated against in terms of pay as well as promotions. This happens because of the historical bias and discrimination against the black women as being less deserving of higher pay and an assumed inability to hold higher positions.

Individuals in a species of moth vary in wing color from white to black, but all individuals prefer to land on the white bark of birch trees. White wing color and the behav- ioral preference for landing on white birch bark are adapta- tions, because the wing color of the moth matches the white color of the birch bark and predators have trouble finding white-winged moths on these trees. As a result, white-winged individuals experience lower predation than dark-winged individuals...

Consider 2 urns. Urn 1 has 2 White Balls and 1 Black Ball. Urn 2 has 1 White Ball and 2 Black Balls. Suppose that one ball is randomly drawn from Urn 1 and put into Urn 2. Then balls are selected one at a time without replacement from Urn 2 until a White Ball is obtained. Let Y be the number of balls drawn from Urn 2 until a white ball is drawn.
