(3) A group of recent college graduates (exercisers and non-exercisers) were followed over a period of 20 years in order to track the incidence of coronary disease. (4) A pharmaceutical company wanted to test a new medicine for control of blood sugar. Study participants were assigned randomly to either a new medication group or a group that used an older medication. The investigator and the participants were blinded as to enrollment in the study conditions.

The described study is an ecologic study, since the study involved countries in New York (group of people belonging to the certain region) and association between unemployment level (exploratory variable) and coronary heart disease mortality (outcome) was studied. b) Women with and without breast cancer who have or have not used oral contraceptives w ere compared. This is a case control study as women with breast cancer (cases) were compared with women without breast cancer (control) and also oral contraceptive use (exposure history) data w ere collected c) This is a cohort study as recently graduated people (educational cohort) who were either exercisers or non-exercisers (exposure) were observed for 20 years (speciric time period) for occurrence of coronary heart disease (outcome) d) This is a randomized control trial as test drug for controlling blood sugar (experimental therapeutic medicine) was compared with old blood sugar controlling medicine and the participants were randomlv included in test drug (studv group) or existing drug (control group)
