why will respect for autonomy be More challenging in out future ?
Respect for autonomy means the patient is free to take decisions regarding his medical interventions to be performed on him. He can self determine what is best for him. Although in the past, docor was considered to be supreme in deciding what is best for the patient as implied from hippocrates oath, but with advancing time, patients gained freedom to decide for themselves. In future, this ethic of respect for autonomy will be more challenging to follow as internet seems to overrule everything in future. Whatever is diagnosed in a patient, the first thing done by the patient is to google. This leads to accumulation of so much information, useful or illogical. This makes patient or his family doctor for themselves and they try to go against doctor whi has attained full qualifications to be a doctor. So in long run, that leads to incorrect treatment or delay in treatment that may be detrimental for patient. Therefore it seems more challenging to follow respect for autonomy in our future.
