In this discussion, describe the method that you would use in upgrading your own job description (Certified Nursing Assistant). Include your analysis on the update: Methods of data collection to determine job requirments such as KSAO's (who would you interview; what documents would you research (i.e, current job methods, job describtion, O*Net etc) How would you asses KSAO importance? What forms of rewards (both intrinstic and extrinstic) would you consider as you develop the description? Conclude with a rationale as to why relevant and current job descriptions are a critical part of the staffing process.

KSAO is the second step in job recruitment which is helpful in determining the people as selected candidates and unselected candidates. It as an acronym which stands for K knowledge, S skills, A ability, O other characteristics such as good listener, politeness etc.

If I'm asked to upgrade my job description as a Certified Nursing Assistant, I would specify my K-knowledge by specifying my course details, years of course, special rewards achieved during the course etc.

S- skills by specifying in detail about the mastered skills in the specific area. I would give more details about area of practice and the credits and hours of completion.

A- ability will be specified by proving with grades and marks and if allowed by demonstration about my ability to render efficient patient care.

O-other characteristics includes other attributes required for the position such as team player, good listener, patience, politeness. This would add to the job requirement that is specified and might give higher chances of getting noticed.

I would research the documents from various online search engines for job and career and also the description that is specified in various sites. Such research would help me in updating my data according to their requirements.

Rewards expected during developing such discription is monetary remuneration, working environment, medical and financial benefits for family Incase of loss or disability, future growth with the institution and overall working culture.

Relevant and current job description is of critical importance as relevancy helps is keeping the agency updated about the exact skill and knowledge that is acquired by me and my area of expertise whereas current job description is of importance to identify if present skills are at the same standards which might match with the new employer hospitals.

Staffing process is a very expensive, recurring and cumbersome procedure. If care is taken during recruitment, the chance of having dropout or resignation might reduce which can decrease the burden of staff shortage.
