Nutrient is a substance that promotes normal growth,maintenance, and repair.

Macronutrients - Major nutrients including carbohydrates, lipids and proteins (can be oxidised for energy production)

Macronutrients and their functions :-

# Carbohydrates

Provides fuel for energy,metabolism,growth and high activity levels

# Protein

To build,repair and maintain body tissues such as hard and soft tissue and blood production and acts as a fuel for energy if a person doesn't have enough glucose

# Fats

Main function is to act as a fuel for energy and develops and maintains cell membranes,which allow the transport of nutrients,gases and waste in and out of a cell
