When Vela arrives at the office with her mother, who has a limited English vocabulary, she asks whether she can stay during her mother’s examination to help translate and lend support. As the preliminary examination begins, it becomes apparent that Vela is speaking for her mother and is not allowing her to answer questions concerning her own health. How would you handle this situation?

I would handle the situation as follow - I> I would gently ask Vela to let her mother Speak hes Symptom and then only translate her words to me. 29 would also like to understand what her mother try to say by observing the gestures. For eg, where is the pain located? Her mothes may put her hand or finger at the location. 3) I would also tell vela that it is very important to know the baobleme through her mother (patient's) word. If you would intervene, then diagnosis may go in different direction. Even after following the upper 3 Steps, she continue to intervene, I would then like to call a staff who know the native language and make him/her as an translator because the unknown staff would be unbiased.
