Answer #1

8.

  • ordered dose = 100 mg/kg/day in divided 2 doses

available dose= 125 mg/5 ml

if, 5 ml  =125 mg

1 ml= 25 mg

weight of the baby = 1182 gram = 1.182 kilogram

thus , dose per day= 100 *1.182 = 118.2 mg/day

since it is given in 2 divided doses,

milligram per dose neonate will receive= 118.2/ 2= 59.1 milligram

  • if 1 ml contains 25 mg ,then 59.1 mg contains ' X ' ml

by ratio method,

25/1 =59.1/X

so, X= 59.1/25 =2.35 ml

millilitres per dose neonate will receive= 2.35 ml

9. prescribed dose= 5.4 mg/kg/hour

available dose= 125 mg/2ml

so, 1 ml= 125/ 2= 62.5 mg

weight of the child = 65 lb=65 * 0.4536 =29.48 kg

then,dose per hour = 5.4* 29.48=159.192 mg/hour

dose in milliliters to be administer, x = 159.192mg/ 62.5 mg ( by ratio method)

(1ml= 62.5 mg

x ml=159.192 mg

1/62.5=x/159.192

therefore, x=159.192/62.5)

x= 2.547 ml/hour= 2.55 ml/hour
