The commercial supply of injections and tablets are given and we are asked to administer a particular dose of each of the products:

9. We have Naloxone HCl and we need to administer 200 mcg (microgram) of the drug from a pack of 0.4 mg / mL (given).

0.4 mg = 400 ug (microgram), so we have 400 ug in 1 mL of the stock.

To administer 200 ug, we need to draw 200/ 400* 1 = 1/2 = 0.5 mL of the stock.

10.  We have a 2 mL vial containing 125 mg Solu-Medrol.

To administer 40 mg of the drug daily, we need to draw, (40/125)*2 = 0.32*2 = 0.64 mL of the drug.

11. We have coumadin tablets of 2.5 mg each. We need to give 7.5 mg once daily, so we need to give

7.5/2.5 = 3 tablets.

12. When a 500 mL infusion is started at 7 am and the flow rate is 50 mL/ hr., the number of hours it would take for the infusion to end will be 500/50 = 10 hours. If we start the infusion at 7 am, then it would end at 7+10 = 17:00 hours or at 5 pm.

13. We have Nexium 20 mg tablets and we need to administer 40 mg, so we need to give 40/20 = 2 tablets.
