How do we handle the non traditional family such as 2 dads or 2 moms?   This might not be what we believe to be a traditional family, or it could be against our personal beliefs, so we have to make sure that we are not passing judgement.   How can we do this as nurses?

Answer #1

Let's consider it's a 2 dads situation then first of all we need to understand the connection between the patient and both the father adn between the fathers because unless and untill we don't understand the inter relations, we won't be able to handle any situation. Then as a nurse you need to see who is closer to the patient and understands more and according to that you can approach the right person for a decision. In this case mother plays a very important role because when the original father is involved in a situation, we also need to see mother is inclined towards which person. After observing all these things, as a nurse we can move further should talk with the family.

Today we are seeing more diverse families than ever before, so it is very important that as nurses we examine our own beliefs about what a family is composed of, for example, I am an only child and both of my parents are deceased so my view of family has changed over the years. I have very close friends that I now consider my family.   How do you feel about a non traditional family?

please reply to this post and ask one question regarding this post: The difference between values and beliefs is that beliefs are convictions that we believe to be true, without proof or evidence. So often times our actions are based on our beliefs due something we have experienced in the past . Values are based...

sociology 1301 In our text, we discussed how 'agents of socialization' (Section 5.3) shape and mold us into who we are. Some examples of these include family, schools, peer groups, the mass media, our workplace, and religion (I'm sure you can think of others). What have been two agents of socialization that have greatly shaped who you are today? Why were they important to your socialization process? How did they socialize you? How in your life are you presently being...

One of the traditional goals of epistemology—the branch of philosophy that concerns theories of knowledge—is to identify beliefs that are certain, beyond any doubt. As you will read in Unit 2, this pursuit is the major preoccupation of the famous philosopher, Descartes, who was not satisfied with Plato’s theory. Plato believed that only human reasoning could lead to genuine knowledge, beliefs that can be held with certitude.   For Plato, of course, these supposedly indubitable beliefs concern the Forms—a metaphysical theory...

Sensation &Perception- Chapter 2 Human beings do not have the most sensitive or acute sensory systems in the animal world. Some bats can hear frequencies that exceed 100,000 Hertz, dolphins receive auditory messages from great distances, and cats can probably localize sounds better than we do because they can rotate their ears. Rats see better at night than we can, eagles have more acute distance vision, and horses have a wider visual field. Rabbits have more taste buds than we...

In legislation all the time people who have not ever been nurses themselves are now trying to change rules and improve healthcare with such little knowledge.
