Answer #1

Amniocentesis is a process in which amniotic fluid is sampled using a hollow needle inserted into the uterus, to screen for abnormalities in the developing fetus. It is usually done between weeks 15 and 20 of pregnancy. Amniocentesis done before week 15 of pregnancy has been associated with a higher rate of complications. So, it should not be performed before 15 weeks .
