Identify the clinical significance and expected laboratory findings for each of the following disorders:
Arteriosclerosis
Hypercholesterolemia
Hypertriglyceridemia
Lipoprotein(a) elevation
Arterioslerosis:
Clinical significance:
It depends upon the blockage in the arteries..medication will stop growing the plaques.but life style changes like diet, exercise can prevent the risk of heart attack and stroke..medication and high blood pressure and cholesterol control can slow the arteriosclerosis.. Angiography and stenting and bypass surgery can reduce the symptoms but it doesn't prevent future heart attack..
Lab finding:
Angiogram can find out the blockage and cholesterol test can findout the chlorestrol level in the blood..electron beam computed tomography ( CAT scan) shows amount of calcium in heart arteires..more calcium it shows in case of arteioarteriosl.
Hypercholesterolemia:
Clinical significance:
Making cholesterol level more than 200mg/DL is the significance for hyperlipidemia..high cholesterol medication like simvastatin, lovastatin can reduce the chlorestrol level..
Lab finding:
Total cholesterol more than 200mg/DL, lDL more than 100mg/DL, triglycerides more than 140 indicate hypercholesterolemia.
Hypertriglyceridemia:
Clinical significance:
Triglycerides level Below 150mg/DL is normal and above that the condition called hypertriglyceridemia..
Medication and lifestyle changes, low fat intake can reduce the blood cholesterol level..weight control can reduce the symptoms.
Lab finding:
Fasting triglycerides more than 400mg/DL..

USE THE FOLLOWING COST AND REVENUE DATA FOR THE NEXT TWO QUESTIONS Assume a clinical laboratory is considering a new test. Here are the key assumptions: Annual fixed direct costs = $20,000. Annual overhead allocation = $10,000. Variable cost per test = $5. Expected volume = 5,000 tests. 1. What price should be set under full cost pricing? a. $ 5 b. $ 7 c. $ 9 d. $11 e. $13 2. What price should be set under marginal cost...
Interpret the statistical findings for the following results. For each example include all applicable information such as type of test, type of data, number of participants, number of groups, and if whether there is statistical significance. a. F (4, 62) = 5.62, p < .05
