John doesn’t want to give up his fast food, so he looks at his other meals to make sure they provide enough Vitamin A. For breakfast, he has Cheerios with milk, toast with jelly, and coffee, and for lunch, he packs a ham and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread, potato chips, an apple, and a soda.

1. Which foods in John’s breakfast and lunch are good sources of vitamin A?

2. Suggests foods that John could add to his lunch that would allow him to meet the RDA for a 20-year-old male.

3. John also discovers that his diet is low in vitamin C. Suggest one fruit and one vegetable that he could add to his breakfast and/or lunch that would provide half of his vitamin C needs.

1. The good sources of vitamin A in his breakfast is Cheerios with milk and in his lunch is cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread and apple .

2. The foods that John could add to his lunch to meet the RDA for a 20year old male are :-

- rice

- legumes

- tofu

- yogurt

- green vegetables

- oyesters

- lentils

- red meat

- chickpeas

- prunes

3. One fruit which has good amount of vitamin C is Orange and one vegetable which is good source of vitamin C is Lemon. He can add either of these two to his breakfast or lunch which will provide him half of his Vitamin C needs .
