Can legalizing marijuana save lives?

In recent years, a number of states have legalized medical marijuana. While marijuana may not be good for you, can it be used as a substitute for more dangerous substances such as prescription opioids and heroin. To use an analogy, perhaps marijuana is to vaping and opioids/heroin are to smoking.

I choose this article because I always wondered how legalizing marijuana save lives. There are multiples benefit of legalizing marijuana such as the marijuana plant contains chemicals that may help treat a range of illness and symptoms, marijuana contain cannabinoids which is effective in reducing nausea, inflammation, swelling and redness and increasing appetite. Additionally, marijuana extracts may help kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others.

Recent work finds that medical marijuana laws reduce the daily doses filled for opioids analgesics among Medicare Part-D and Medicaid enrollees, as well as population-wide opioid over does deaths. In some ways legalize marijuana and life would be better for most people. I think that marijuana should be just legalized for better treatment of ailments. Since, after legalizing marijuana some people may not believing in saving lives but for some people it is saving their love one lives. But at the same time, it has negative impacts of human health, which are both short and long term. In short term, it causes distortions which sense and time results inability to concentrate while in long term it many cause distortions in body composition, reduction of sperm count in men, impacts on the premenstrual cycles of women and so on. It is considered that a large number of U.S citizens consume marijuana on a regular basis. But the side effects of the drug are more harmful as compared to the impacts of the alcohol and tobacco which are widely used in the U.S. Yes, marijuana save lives and useful for therapeutic impacts.

After reading this article and did some other research I believe marijuana can save lives. Some people might not agree on legalizing marijuana but in some part its benefiting to others people. Additionally, if people follow the federal marijuana policy there would not be causing any harm.

Introduction: In recent years, a number of states have legalized medical marijuana. Cannabis Sativa, or marijuana was used as an agent for achieving euphoria around for centuries. Its usage was spreader from China to India and then to N Africa and reached Europe at least as early as A.D. 500. This small green flowering plant can grown in many places around the world.

Significance: I choose this topic because I always wondered how legalizing marijuana save lives. There are multiples benefit of legalizing marijuana such as the marijuana plant contains chemicals that may help treat a range of illness and symptoms, marijuana contain cannabinoids which is effective in reducing nausea, inflammation, swelling and redness and increasing appetite. Additionally, marijuana extracts may help kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others. Marijuana is made from the flowering top of the Cannabis Sativa plant. It contains the chemical Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Review of literature:

In some ways legalize marijuana and life would be better for most of the people. Many physicians and researchers believe Marizuana legalizing is a better option because it will bring tax reliefs, the cost itself will come down and it helps cancer, glaucama and sclerosis patients. So I think that marijuana should be just legalized for better treatment of ailments. Since, after legalizing marijuana some people may not believing in saving lives but for some people it is saving their love one lives. But at the same time, it has negative impacts of human health, which are both short and long term.

A recent study indicated that marijuana has no long-term negative health effects on an individual’s cognitive ability. But the down side is huge as legalizing it may allow people to freely use it. In addition to making the young generation addictive it has a series of short term and long term negative effects on a person's over health. The short term effects include the inability to concentrate and distortions with sense and time. The long term effects are more detrimental to health and can include respiratory issues similar to smoking tobacco (due to smoking the drug), reduction of sperm and testosterone levels in men, impacts on the ovulation and premenstrual cycles of women, as well as fatigue, decreases in libido, impaired fertility, and changes in body composition (increased fat mass and decreased muscle mass).

Right now since the government has not legalized it, the people who thinks that government is on the right side of the law will always feel that using marizuana is legally wrong also in addition to its medically negative effects on health. It is considered that a large number of U.S citizens consume marijuana on a regular basis. But the side effects of the drug are more harmful as compared to the impacts of the alcohol and tobacco which are widely used in the U.S. Yes, marijuana save lives and useful for therapeutic impacts.

Pro side for debating: Eight states approved the legal use of marijuana for recreational and medical purposes on the historic elections of 8th November. This takes the total number of states in US legalizing limited use of Marijuana to 33; and I strongly feel that New York should also legalize Marijuana for recreational use. Such a move will have lot of benefits- a boost to revenue of the state from taxing marijuana sales, improvement in law enforcement and justice by channelizing the energy of law enforcement agencies to other serious crimes, reduction in fund flow to organized crime syndicates, improvement in product quality and safety control of Marijuana being consumed, apart from further reinforcing the right to recreation of an individual.

Conclusion: After reading several research articles about marijuana, I believe marijuana can save lives. Some people might not agree on legalizing marijuana but in some part it’s benefiting to others people. Additionally, if people follow the federal marijuana policy there would not be causing any harm.
