Answer #1

The specific purposes of nursing research are identification, description, exploration, explanation, prediction, and Control. Qualitative research and quantitative research are two types of nursing research.

Identification :- In qualitative research, it deals with the questions " what is the process" and "what is the name of this process". In quantitative research, identification precedes the inquiry. It deals with the previously studied phenomenon.

Description :- It deals with the incidence, prevalence, size, dimensions, and variations. In qualitative research, it deals with "what are the dimensions of the phenomenon " and " what is its importance " In quantitative research, it deals with " what is the prevalence of the phenomenon ", " what are its characteristics ", and" how often does it occurs ".

Exploration :- The aim of exploration is to investigate the full nature of the phenomenon, its manifestation, and other related factors to it. In qualitative research, it deals with " the nature of the phenomenon ", and " the process by which it evolves". In quantitative research, it deals with factors related to it and the antecedents of the phenomenon.

Prediction :- This step predicts or forecasts about the behavior of variables in the new environment and with new individuals on the basis of evidence. Prediction helps to estimate the probability of a particular outcome in a given situation.

Control :- This step deals with " how we can control or change the prevalence of the phenomenon" and "chances of preventing or controlling it."

Yes, the above purposes corresponds to an EBP (Evidence Based Practice) focus such as therapy treatment, diagnosis, prognosis, etiology, harm or meaning. It is because research is always directed towards the observational evidence. Nursing research is a systemic study of the problems of a patient care.
