Embryonic stem cells are a type of cell that derive from embryos. This process usually happens though in vitro fertilization and then donated to research with consent of the donor. These cells are useful for research and can be used to “regenerate and repair damaged tissue, some current therapies such as bone marrow transplantation already make use to stem cells and their potential for regeneration of damaged tissues” (Kohl, 2011). These cells can overall help

The ethical issue regarding embryonic stem cells is the destruction of human embryos. According to the article on stem cell research “ it is morally problematic to use embryos for stem cell research because it destroys embryos to obtain stem cells, cloning is morally wrong because it is contrary to personalistic norm and reduces a person to an object that is manipulated and controlled by another” (Duncan,2008). The United States has mixed views on weather to allow embryonic stem cell or not. In 2001 President Bush prohibits the federal funding of any reach using ES cell however his policy does not affect the private sector conducted with state funding. This shows that there are other ways around regulations and that this ethical issue is very complex.

    5. Embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos. They are specifically obtained from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro for an infertile couple in an in-vitro fertilization clinic. These are excess fertilized eggs that are donated for research with informed consent of the donors. Medical researchers believe that stem cells have great potential for helping to repair, even regenerate, damaged human tissue, even nerve tissue. Would a Kantian approve of using human embryonic stem cells for medical research and...

Which of the following statements regarding embryonic stem (ES) cells are true? A. They can only generate a very limited number of cell types. B. They can theoretically give rise to all types of cells in an organism. C. They are highly specialized. D. They are pluripotent. E. Harvesting them from human embryos raises ethical and political issues.

Cloning Human Embryonic Stem Cells Cloning is now possible by inserting a skin cell from a baby into an unfertilized human egg that has had its own DNA removed. This produces a blastocyte (an undifferentiated embry onic cell), which includes stem cells identical to the baby's. With this technique it is possible to make genetically identical embryonic stem cells from any cell in the human body. This would remove the need to harvest these cells from existing embryos. Theoretically these...

(Krimsky, 2015) For instance, if we have an stem cell in the liver and the liver needs a new cell, the stem cell will duplicate and one is going to be a duplicate of the original the other one's going to be a new liver...

10-14 10-14 Q10. Scientists are divided over value of embryonic stem cells (ESC) and adult stem cells (ASC). Some of the specific scientific concerns include: A. Lack of directed control of ESCs differentiation, potentially leading to uncontrollable teratomas in murine models B. ASCs plasticity and ability to differentiate into other tissues and cells C. Accessibility of ESCs and ASCs cell lines D. ASC transplantation and tissue rejection E. All of the above Q11. Cloning does NOT involve which of the...
