Nurses began to develop cultural awareness by self awareness.By interacting with patients directly the nurses can know different backgrounds of several cultures.Cultural awareness decreases the disparities and improve healthcare if we know the patients cultural preference we can provide sensitive healthcare.
When working to provide care we can adopt to incorporate the cultural needs of the patient's by first realising that so many cultures are present and self awareness.The nurse should avoid making assumptions and know about the other cultures by studying or politely asking the patients what are their cultural values so that they can provide a care plan which suites their culture.Judgements should be withhold and try to understand their values.Build trust with the patients.Listen very carefully to the patients and what they are saying.Remove language barrier and educate the patients about medical practices.Active listening.Patients should be accommodated.Mostly by interacting with different cultural patients the nurse can be able to incorporate care iso that it can better suit to cultural needs of patients.
