For this assignment, you will create a letter requesting payment on a balance of $120. Patient, Janet Russell has had this balance of over 6 months. She has already been sent 2 letters requesting payment arrangements be made. The letters were sent via US postal service. The letter you are writing is a “collection” letter. This is the 3rd letter the patient will be receiving. It must be sent in a manner that confirms both delivery and receipt of the letter. Consider the following when writing this letter:

1. How firm should you be in the letter?

2. Should you discuss collection proceedings?

3. Should the letter be personal or impersonal?

4. Should you request an explanation as to why payment has not been made?

5. At this point should the patient still be treated with respect and consideration?

6. Does the tone of the letter matter if the patient has never been seen in the office? The provider only saw her in the hospital.

7. Compose the letter and stipulate at the bottom how the letter will be sent and what documentation you will include in the chart.
