Drug Name : ferrous gluconate 1. Medication class :- iron supplement ; Hematınic Therapeutic mechanisms Replaces iron stores needed for red blood cell development as well as energy & O2 transport & use, gluconate contains 12% elemental son. 6° Used with caution :- pregnancy , hemolytic anemia elderly patient, peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, enteritis . 2. Indications: - sideroblastic onenia - psophy laris for iron deficiency in pregnancy - nutsition al supplementation 4. Usnal Dose Range : 7 codult : 50 -108 mgl day elemental iron tid

3. eadverse effects : - Allesgic seaction :- usticasia , peeling skin, fever, difficulty breathing & Swelling on face, lips, tongue = - black or farry stool - bright red blood in stool - Stomach pain - coughing up blood / vomit that books like cottee grounds E chest pain / throat pain - constipation I diarrhea - nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite: - green colored stools - temporary staining of the teeth 5.
