Ezetimibe

This drug belongs to cholesterol lowering drug .
The cholesterol is generally received from the absorption done in the small intestine from the liver.It blocks the action of NPC1L1 which is responsible for deposition of cholesterol on the enterocytes with the aid of adaptor protein 2.The ezetimibe blocks or stops the action of this so that the level of cholesterol absorption from the intestine is decreased and decreasing the total cholesterol level in the blood by 20%
