   system characterized by hyperresponsiveness of the airways

   edema of the mucous membrane and mucus production.

* Common causes.

* Common causes of asthma include family history,exposure to

    chemicals or allergens like dust,pollens,mold,smoke,cold etc.

* Signs and symptoms

* Signs and symptoms of asthma include dyspnea,wheezing,chest

   tightness,tachycardia,diaphoresis,eczema,cyanosis etc.

* Triggering factors.

* Factors which aggravate asthma include emotional stress,airway

irritants,viral respiratory infections,rhinosinusitis,gastroesophageal reflux

disease etc.

* Types of asthma.

* Based on the severity of symptoms asthma is classified as mild,moderate,

and severe asthma.

* Treatment

* Treatment of asthma include anti-inflammatory drugs,bronchodilators,oxygen

   therapy and metered dose inhalers.
