Answer #1

1. It is important for the pregnant couple to make this decision together because care of the baby will be done by both of them . They should be clear about all the doubts they have regarding baby care . It's the best decision taken by them to clear their doubts about feeding the baby with the physician and they should be informed about the importance of the breastfeeding to the baby ,about the advantages of breast feeding like immunity provided by mother's milk etc .

2. It is preferable for the couple to make this decision during the prenatal period because not only in this case , decision making in any part of our life should be taken before we act , we should not wait for the time of action . Making all decisions regarding the care of baby in the prenatal period is appropriate because if they clear their doubts ,make decisions etc after the birth of the baby then they won't be able to take care of their baby and won't have sufficient time to take care of the baby .

3. Being a nurse , I will provide them information regarding the advantages of breast milk for the baby and mother . And will guide them to choose the best method that is breast feeding for their baby . Advantages of breast feeding for the baby are :-

- provides immunity to the baby

- for proper growth and development of the baby

- complete food , contains all essential nutrients

Advantages of breast feeding for the mother are:-

- acts as a contraceptive

- helps in uterine involution

- help in bonding with the baby

- allows time to the mother to rest

- inexpensive

4. Nursing diagnosis appropriate for this situation :-

Risk for altered parenting related to insufficient knowledge regarding child care.
