Osteoporosis is the condition in which bones become brittle and prone to fracture.

osteopenia is condition in which bone formation doesn’t match with bone resorption, as a result softening of bones occurs but there is not that risk of fracture as in osteoporosis.

osteomalacia in which there is impaired bone metabolism and bone mineralisation resulting in bone softening because of deficiency of calcium, phosphate and vitamin d.

2. Treatment for osteoporosis

  • Bisphosphonates like alendronate reduces bone resorption
  • Calcium and vit d supplementation
  • weight bearing exercises

3. Wrench may be required to tighten or loosen the bolts of external fixaters used for fracture reduction.

4. Order of gi assessment

  • inspection ie observation
  • auscultation ie hearing for bowel sounds with stethoscope
  • palpation to check the presence of masses, pain etc
  • percussion to check the presence of flatulance, mass soft or hard in systeM

5. Phenytoin which is antiseizure drug may cause gingival hyperplasia
