Answer #1

Organizations across the globe use IT in some capacity and it has become quintessential to perform a check that it has been working in line with business objectives. To cater this need, a formal governance structure is needed and thus IT Governance came into picture. IT Governance is a tool which helps in providing a structure for aligning IT strategy with business strategy.

There are many standards under IT Governance and three most popular ones are ITIL, COBIT, and COSO.

In my opinion, COBIT is most important because: -

1. It is very easy to use with other standards like ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000, Project Management Institute etc.

2. It optimizes business IT structure to maintain high quality information to meet organization goals.

3. It manages risks like hacking, malware, etc very effectively and protects the system.

4. It manages compliance requirements that many organizations struggle to meet.

5. It is globally acceptable and thus creates a trust in IT among all stakeholders.
