Her parents state that she seems to have these “breathing attacks” mostly when she is playing, or, attempting to help her parents around the house with activities of daily living. You are about to conclude your assessment and relay your findings to the physician when Chelsea’s father approaches and asks: “Do you think she’s having trouble breathing because we smoke?”

First of all steel mills emits coke oven gas, naphthalene, ammonium compounds, crude light oil, coke dust etc.

The patient had an attack from the above pollutants and lead to asthma attack. There was sneexing & cough as well as dyspnoea. Passive Smoking also induces the lung damage.

Also cat allergies induced sneezing, coughing etc.

Foundation practice:

To cure asthma symptoms by inhaled corticsteroids, leukoyrien modifiers, beta agonists, theophylline etc.

Collaborative practice:

Steel mill pollutions to be controlled proper preventive measures to be taken.

Smoking by parents to be stopped at home

Cats can be handed over to friends who dont have allergies

Professional practice:

Transparent communication, giving high class treatment to the patient only, escalating the issue from steel mill to local polkution controlling bodies to inspect the mill etc

To give counselling to parents educating them on the wellbeing of the child.

if this is ignored there are chances of inducing carcinoma in the child lungs. Complete assessment to rule out carcinoma to be done.

Ethical principle:

To shift the steel mill to other licalities where people dont reside.

Stop smoking etc
