ROLE - A Role is a set of expectations society assumes a person in a certain position or occupation will perform.

ROLE TRANSITION - Implies a change in one's role requirements, expectations and work responsibilities. It also requires an internal change in the way one thinks about or views the new role.

Success in nursing career is evaluated by "climbing the corporate ladder" the choice between an LPN/RN or a role as RN is not easy as possible. A LPN license can be earned as quickly but RN license provides more opportunities for promotion. LPN works under the supervision of a physician or registered nurse and do routine bedside care, perform sterile procedures, and they may or may not be allowed to administer medications, start IVs or IV medications.

As you move through the role of RN, your job requirements, expectation and responsibilities will also change. Developing an internal positive attitude towards change will help in the process of acquiring the needed skills to become a professional RN.

a) RN as a whole, should maintain a face-to-face or better rapport between the patients and to others in the healthcare teams

b) A RN should be aware of the responsibilities and should be able to handle any situations that are facing in the health settings

c) A RN should acts as a leader, and should take right decisions based on the importance of integrity of his or her role.
