What are elements of role transition from RN to NP
Nursing is a profession which had its vast growth in the recent years. Nearly 15000 nurses had a transition from RN(Registered Nurse) to NP (Nurse Practitioner ) durjng the year 2012_2013.
The main elements to get transition in to NP is a 1or 2 year of clinical experience ,then persume a MSN followed by a couple of clinical experience and then for NP education.
The RN is an experienced profession whereas entering into NP as a novice gives them a sort of more responsibility gathered with fear ,insecurity, low confidence in handling the practices untill they get an experience in the new field. They have a great transition from following orders to giving orders to a RN.
Certain authors described the transition into 6 stages laying foundation, initiation of work, meeting the challenges in the work,widening or broadening the idea of work .This enables them to analyse ,interpret and give a quality patient care.
