Answer #1

There is a particular amount of mineral and vitamin that is needed by the body. This is because minerals and vitamins are micronurtients and therefore needed only in small amounts. Excessive amount of these nutrients can become toxic for the body. For example having high doses of flouride can stain and weaken teeth especially in children, high levels of vitmain C can cause diarrhea.

Three specific population groups that may benefit from vitamin and mineral therapy are :

  1. Ones living at high sea levels: The prevalence of goitre is common in these people due to lack of iodized salt. Iodine mineral therapy would be helpful for them.
  2. Ones living in the artic regions: These individuals do not get sunlight for six months in a year and may suffer from vitamin D deficiency.
  3. Alcoholics: They often suffer from vitamin B and vitamin D deficiency.
