The healthcare professionals and the patients form an integral part of healthcare system. In a healthcare system patients hold the utmost importance. It is very important for the healthcare organisation and the staff to take care that all patient’s rights are being fulfilled. With these rights come some responsibilities of the patient.

Some of the rights of patient are :

1. Right for equal treatment as others

2. No discrimination on the basis of race, origin, gender, or any other ground.

3. To get best possible medical treatment and services available according to his need

4. Violence free treatment

5. All the services given to patient should have prior consent from patient

6. Right to maintain their confidentiality

7. Right to choose the kind of treatment they want to receive including advanced care directives

The patient also have some responsibilities towards the healthcare organisation like respecting the hospital staff, maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the clinic or hospital, using the hospital property with care and abiding the laws and regulations.
