Break even number of cars = Fixed cost / Contribution per unit
Break-even number of cars = $ 144,000 / $                         3,200
Break-even number of cars = 45 cars
O'Reilly must sell 45 cars each month to breakeven
Net Income /( 1 - Tax rate )= target operating Income
59520 /( 1 - 0.4 )= target operating Income
$                                   99,200 = target operating Income
Target monthly operating income is $ 99,200
( Fixed cost + Desired operating income )/ Contribution per unit = Quantity of cars required to be sold
( 144000 + 99200 )/ 3200 = Quantity of cars required to be sold
