Blog about a time where you (or someone you know) received "bad" news from a health care provider? How did the provider tell you? What language did he/she use? How was the message framed? Was the news delivered appropriately or inappropriately according to your textbook? What did the follow-up look like? How did you respond?

In early days of last autum, my very close friend came to me with a complaint of severe headache since last 2 months. We went to the local hospital to get him screened for any abnormalities or pathology. The doctor assessed him for several history and tested him for concluding his diagnosis. He was undergone a MRI scan to rule out the possibilities of any pathologies.

After the scan the nurse came to us and firstly comforted us by communicating regarding normal stuff. She then slowly revealed to us that the scans report are up and there is a slight pathological evidence reported. She made me and my friend understand that he had an hemangioma that is a form of benign tumor but has to undergo a surgical treatment for it. She used appropriate words and empathy when she revealed this infromation to us. Her words were, "I am sorry to tell you that you have a slight pathology in your brain, its called hemangioma, the good news is that it is a benign tomor and can be removed using a surgical process." Her words were releving and full of compassion that helped us buffer this news and accept it openly. According to the textbooks I have gone thorugh the nurse's behaviour and manner of revealing the diagnosis was appropriate and accepting.

Due to her well framed and choice of words we could accept the news and appropriately respond to it with positive thoughts.
