a) The various alternatives in financing current purchases are:

1. Cash

2. Credit Card

3. Different types of loans

b) If everyone had to pay cash for all major purchases, spending would reduce as one might not have enough cash and all transactions done through credit cards or other purchase methods will lessen. This decline in spending shall adversely impact the economy, slowing the growth and eventually leading to deflation.
