In hospitalized patients with Central Venous Catheter (CVC), is the practice of daily chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) baths more effective in reducing the incidence of Central line-associated Blood Stream infection (CLABSI) than daily soap and water baths within a course of hospitalization?

Using bundle insertion with effective sterile barrier precaution during catheter insertion is an important component for reducing infection.
Follow infection - barriers precautions while inserting the catheter. use, cap, mask, sterile gloves, gown, sterile drape to reduce the chance of bloodstream infection related to catheter. Follow hand hygiene before and after touching the patient. remove the catheter when it is not required further. Provide attention to the bandaged side and ensure it is not wet or dirty. watch the surrounding area for redness and warmth. advise family and patients not to touch the tube. follow infection prevention guidelines when caring for the patient.
chlorhexidine bath during hospitalization kills germs and reduce the infection, especially for ICU patients. it reduces the risk of central venous catheter-associated bloodstream infection compared with soap with water. daily bath with chlorhexidine gluconate reduces the microbial density in the patient skin, it also avoids vancomycin-resistant enterococcal colonization and reduces the incidence of bloodstream infection. soap and water will not reduce the bacterial colony count for the patient while hospitalized.
