It is very common for old people to feel tired and demotivated in terms of processing exercise and physical activity. However, it is never too late to start exercising. A nurse can always use methods that can make exercising fun and safe for the old people but it need some awareness and education to the patient about the benefits of exercise. The patient in the case study is a heart patient who is hypertensive, borderline diabetic and overweight. Information such as a little physical exercise can help him with all his health concerns can motivate him. Worries about falling, weight gain and pain can make the patient feel sedentary about exercising but it is very important for old patients to maintain a healthy lifestyle by following regular exercise. A discussion in terms of the benefits of exercise and harmful effects of a sedentary lifestyle can motivate the patient. It can include information such as regular exercise and physical activity can help a person lose weight, boost up metabolism, reduce the impact of chronic illness, enhance mobility, flexibility, balance, and maintain blood pressure.

A targeted moderate-vigorous exercise for 30 minutes can certainly benefit the patient in terms of losing his weight. Exercises such as jogging, walking and moderate aerobics can help the patient. Old people are more vulnerable to injuries so it is important for a person to assist them during their exercise. The blood pressure and fluctuations in blood glucose can be regulated by some yoga and aerobic exercises. It is important for the nurse to keep the patient motivated and engaged so the patient must be informed about the harmful impacts of sedentary lifestyle and benefits of physical activity in order to maintain better health and well being.
