Infant means from one month  to one year of age.

In that 0 - 28 days we can called as neonates or new borns.

Early neonate is 0 - 7 days.

Late neonate is 8 - 28 days.

So next one month to one year baby we can called as infant.

Before birth is prenatal stage.

Next infancy up to one year.

Toddler one year to three years.

Pre schoolers 4 yrs to 6 yrs.

Schoolers 7 yrs to 12 yrs.

Adolescents 13 yrs 19 yrs.

Adults 20 yrs to 59 yrs.

Above 60 yrs oldage.

This is the life cycle of an infant to old age.

So in these there are different developments will be taken place like physical, mental, and physical abilities and coordination.

Nutritional challenged associated with infant life cycle :

* nutrition during in fetal life and childhood is very important, if it is under nutrition leads to chronic diseases during in the later life.

* like coronary artery diseases, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and some cancers are related to diet and nutrition also.

* some other challenges due to diet is undernutrion, protein energy malnutrition in children, over nutrition or obesity.

* exclusive breastfeeding means only breast feeding up to six months of age.

* so up to six months this is only the nutrition for infants.
