Answer-3)
With the growth of the economy, the waste, water, and air pollution cause an adverse effect on the balance of environment in Hong Kong. The environmental deterioration, especially water quality and air quality impacts the universities also. I am studying in Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) and facing the health risks due to the increasing environmental concerns. The main environmental forces affecting the universities include the political and legal forces; social and ethical influences; market demand; technology; and competition. I feel the main three major environmental forces that are currently affecting the university are:
-- Market demand: The campus bus services are always in demand and create loads of pollution. The main reasons for pollution caused by buses are inadequate enforcement of rules and regulations, poor vehicle maintenance, and inappropriate vehicle size and type. Moreover a poor maintained campus bus consumes more fuel and emits excessive exhaust
-- Population: University is adding more courses which means increasing number of students; the increasing density of students in the campus certainly contributes to the environmental hazards
-- Pedestrian network: The network of pedestrian is either isolated or not well maintained thus students using more of their vehicles which causes air pollution
