-In addition to giving patients respect and dignity while caring for them, it is also very important to learn to navigate through a diverse population. The United States and the rest of the world is becoming widely diverse in every form. There is diversity in cultures, ideas and thoughts, beliefs systems. Therefore, it’s the duty of the nurses to be able to navigate through the diversity while respecting and accepting the patient's uniqueness. Nursing practice has no one solution or tactics that fits all and therefore, nurses can not treat every patient the same in all aspects. Getting to know the patient will allow nurses to be a much more effective because they are now able to identify personal barriers that the patient might be experiencing, as well as being able to provide a care plan that is unique to the specific needs of the patient. The trust and relationships that are being built between the patient and nurse will ultimately result in the patient being more open to abide to the care plan and listen to what the nurse has to teach them about their health and wellness. My philosophy of nursing will guide my nursing skills and ideology.
