Productivism refers to the socio-economic thought that stresses upon driving up the productivity or ability to produce more goods and services.

Food sustainability implies that the production of food grains must continue to rise to feed our growing population. There should not be a shortage of food in the future. Thus, if productivity rises, we can produce more food grains by the same level of inputs. Thus, productivism is the precondition for food sustainability.
