Answer #1

As per order we have to give cefotaxime 100mg/kg/day and it be divided for every 6 Hours.

The child weight is 5 kg. So to be give cefotaxime 100mg x 5 = 500 mg/ day. This dose to be divided for every 6 hours (i.e) 4 times/ day

so, 500 mg to be divided for 4 times.

Per time the dose to be given = 500/4= 125 mg/ time. 125mg/ every 6 hourly

Each cefotaxime vial contains 500 mg. It can be diluted with 4 ml.

So 4 ml = 500mg

1ml= 500/ 4= 125mg

so 1ml / every 6 hourly to be administer (constitution is 4ml with a 500 mg of cefotaxime vial).
