Different family pattern or structure

1. Extended family or three generation family.

A family consist of Grand parents,  their children and their offspring too is called an extended family. Extended families consider elderly people are inseparable part of the family. They respect and value them. If some one in the family are in need of caring or in illness that need a regular home care, the family members will not be in despair. There will be enough members who can take care of the ill person. It will not be burden for them as they can share the responsibility.

2. Nuclear family

Family consist of father, mother and children is called a nuclear family. In a nuclear family bonding will be more but when one of them become acutely ill or in need of regular care, a parent figure has to sacrifice their job and other works to take care of the ill person. If it is the mother, who takes care of father, then nobody will be there for earning the lively hood. It affects the care and caring pattern. The ill person will become a burden for the whole family.

Question 6.

It is important to recognise and support the carer's relationships with and knowledge about the person who need care. When there is a strong relationship between the carer and the person who need care , then there will be a good care delivery from the carer. Example : a lovable wife can care her husband well than any other one.

A carer, who is an outsider, can develop a good relationship with the person who needs care. Other family members can support him or her to develop a good relationship and to get more knowledge about the client. It will help in good care delivery and also helps in developing mutual understanding and trust.
