Yes, personal choices in the place of a treatment process should be limited. For example if a patient said earlier that he do not take any blood tranfusions even if he die. Then the physician or any other health respresentative should respect his words and do not transfuse blood even in the critical situation because it can lead to legal punishment. Personal decision is not more important than the ethical rules. In a professional life following the systematic process and rules are important.

In other cases, personal decisions can be taken. Like if a patient is in critical life threatening condition and he cannot respond to his senses and there is no relatives on gaurdian on the reachable distance then one can make personal choice of treatment on the patient for a better life of the patient.

The personal choices and hispital rules are both play an equal important roles in recovery and quality of life of a patient.
