1. So in my house, I have a bathroom to myself, and a while ago the toilet roll holder broke when my nephew was using the bathroom. Instead of buying and installing another one I simply use a twisted clothes hanger. The Hanger is twisted in a U shape so the toilet paper roll can be used on it. Another example of me overcoming functional fixedness is with cardboard boxes, i'm not sure if it counts but it has to do with my niece and nephew. Most of the time when I order something from Amazon it arrives in a cardboard box. Rather than tossing the box out, I keep it. Whenever my niece and nephew come over I give them the box so they can use it to play. They have wild imaginations, so to us it might look like a plain cardboard box, but to them it can be a castle, or a stadium!

After watching the video, share a personal example or two of overcoming functional fixedness by using an item in
an unusual way. A personal example of Functional fixedness i remember when hurricane Katrina hit Fort Lauderdale and there wasn’t any warm water running throughout the house. What we did to overcome these issues we would actually boil water in the oven and use that water we got hot use and wash with. The power came from a generator which allowed us to have power running in the house

3.   The parents conducting this "genderless" experiment can be giving the child less freedom than they actually think. I understand where they are coming from to some extent, but an infant doesn't know anything except it's basic needs. Growing up the child will most likely feel secluded and alone since it won't be gendered. I don't agree with the parents decision to raise a genderless baby. To me it doesn't matter if the child is born a male or female, and later on decides to switch since they feel like they were born the wrong gender. Let the child figure that out for themselves but if the child doesn't have a gender, as it gets older and older they will feel isolated. No one is genderless so they will feel isolated, that is why I don't agree with the parents experiment.

• Concerns others expressed stated in the article the grandparents were supportive but resented explaining the gender free baby to friends and co workers. They worried the children would be ridiculed. Friends said they were imposing their political and ideological values on a newborn. Most of all, people said they were setting kids up for a life of bullying in a world that can be cruel to outsiders.(Poisson j, 5, 2011) i feel as if it will impact the child’s social life to interact with other children which will eventually become an issue for the child growing up

• Do I agree with the parent's decisions to raise a genderless baby. I would have to agree with the parent's decision to raise a genderless because it wouldn’t actually affect the way that they raise the baby. It’s just that in the long run it can have a negative effect on the child life that the parents might won’t be able to understand.

1- As we know, our cognitive development gives us abilities to use things with different needs, the process of problem-solving help us to manipulate ideas and prepare new things. The functional fixedness is a different thing, it is a cognitive bias that limits the manipulation of ideas.

2- TO overcome functional fixedness, a person should be able to think divergently and should be aware of the multiple uses of things. During the flood, I used empty airtight canes to float on the surface. People often overcome functional fixedness such as using the tire for swinging.

3- Genderless children are the part of our society, traditionally, we can say that gender is important but modern social perspectives think differently because gender is a biological condition while our social development allows us to support every human. I don’t see any problem to grow genderless children until society is concerned enough about social needs and social support.

4- I am completely agree with the parent’s decision to grow a genderless child because they are part of our society. We have no right to control the gender of a person while we are living in a democratic world where individual and human rights are more important than social or communal rights. Being a genderless is not a primary concern for social development genderless children have no control over biological exceptions. If society could support exceptional children and provide them education, whey they should not support genderless children because it’s a biological exception.
