PN Contains

Dextrose solution - 15%

Amino acids - 4.25%

a. In a litter(1000ml) of PN solution contains

1000ml = 100 x 15% = 150ml (approx 150grams)

b. 150 grams of dextrose contains in 1 liter of PN solution

c. 1 litter PN solution will provide

150gm x 4K c = 600kcl carbohydrate kilocalories

(1 gram of Carbohydrate provides 4 Kcl)

d. 1 litter of PN solution contains a total 150 grams of carbohydrate

So, Total of 600 carbohydrate kilocalories is by dextrose.

e. 1 litters PN solution contains

1000ml = 100 = 4.25% = 42.5ml (approx 42.5 grams) of amino acids

f. 1 litter of PN solution contains 42.5 grams of amino acids.

g. 1 litter PN will provide

4.25gm x 4KCL = 170KCL Protein Kilocalories

1 gram of protein provides 4 KCL

h. 1 litter PN contains 42.5 grams of protein and this will provide 170 Protein Kilocalories.
