Answer #1

1. Amount to administer = D/H x Q

D- Desired dose

H- Available dose

Q- Quantity or How supplied

Label on suprax (Cefixime) is 500mg/mL and  required dose is 400mg

  So, D= 400mg, H= 500mg, and Q= 1mL

   Amount to administer (mL) = 400mg/ 500mg x 1mL

= 0.8 mL

2. Required IV NS infusion is 90mL /hr

So, mcgtt/min= (Total volume (mL) x Drop factor) / Time in mins

( 90 x 60) / 60 = 90 mcgtt/min   ( micro drop factor = 60) - Universal

Hence answer is 90 mcgtt/min

3. Amount to administer = D/H x Q

D- Desired dose

H- Available dose

Q- Quantity or How supplied

Label on Enoxaparin is 300mg/mL

Required dose is 1mg/kg. Patient weight is 140 pounds = 63.5 kg (1 pound=0.454 kg)

So, the required dose of Enoxaparin is 63.5 x 1 = 63.5 mg

D= 63.5mg, H= 300mg and Q= 1 mL

Amount to administer (mL)= 63.5mg/300mg x 1 mL

= 0.211 mL

4.

0.211 mL = 63.5mg
