Answer #1

2.Given

IV fluid:NS:90ml /hour (that is 1hour=90ml)

Then 4 hr=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

=24×90÷1

=360÷1

=2160ml/day

Flow rate=Total volume ×drop factor ÷Time(hr)×60

Here total volume in one hour =90ml

Drop factor:60gtt/min(standard rate for micro drip and mentioned in mc gtt )

=90×60÷1×60(60 and 60 can be cancelled in calculation)

=90

Ans:90mcgtt/min

7.Given

In 1 hour 90 ml NS is infused

So for 1 day (24hour)=2160ml (90×24)

Therefore the patient will receive 2160ml of IV fluid in a day.

1.Given

Medication:Suprax

Order:400mg

Available:500mg/ml ( that is 1ml=500mg)

So 400mg=??ml

cross multiply and divide

=400×1÷500

=400÷500

=0.8

Ans:0.8ml has to be administered

3.Given

Medication:Enoxparin

Dose:1mg/kg

weight: 64kg

To calculate the dose

As 1kg=1mg

Then 64kg=??mg

Cross multiply and divide

=64×1÷1

=64mg

Route:subcutaneous

Frequency:Twice a day

Available:300mg/ml

So 64mg=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

==64×1÷300

=64÷300

=0.21

Ans:0.21 ml to ne administered
