Terminologies used in occupational therapy • Ada Adaptive Response : An action that is appropriate in meeting the Environmental demand. • Body Awareness : Mental picture of one's own body • Cocontraction: All the muscle groups surrounding a body part contracting together. Dyspraxia : Unable to move the body parts or difficulty in moving. Gross motor: Movement of large body parts • Modulation: The brains ability to regulate its own activity. • Motor control : The ability of controlling the movement of muscle groups. • Prone : Horizontal position of the body where face is positioned downwards. • Supine : Horizontal body position where face is upwards. Tactile sensation: Sensory system that can able to perceive pressure, temperature, pain and touch. • Visual perception : The ability to perceive and interpret what brain sees

Occupational therapy is a type of physical intervention treatment developed to bring back the disabilities and the problems of the persons by engaging them in the work or occupation of their interests.

This is taken care by an occupational therapist who guides, assigns occupations i.e. daily activities that the person must be engaged and bring backs the patient to the normal condition.

Nature and Scope of Occupational therapy :

• Occupational therapy works on modifying the and adaptation of the person to the changes that has took place physically and mentally by developing the skills.
